Celebrating Earth Day Every Day at Ealing Broadway

As Earth Day approaches on 22 April, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the steps we can all take to protect and preserve our planet. At Ealing Broadway, sustainability isn’t just something we think about once a year it’s part of our everyday culture. Our entire team is committed to building a greener, more responsible future, all year round.

Our Ongoing Sustainability Journey

Our environmental efforts are embedded into everything we do. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

Saving Water
Since 2019, we’ve reduced our on-site water usage by an impressive 34%, enough to fill two Olympic-sized swimming pools!

Waste Management
Since 2020, we’ve recycled over 1,300 tonnes of waste, that’s the weight of 94 double-decker buses. Nothing goes to landfill: any non-recyclable waste is incinerated to power a turbine that generates electricity.

Responsible Energy Use
100% of the electricity used at Ealing Broadway comes from renewable sources. We’re proud to be selective and conscious about how we power our centre.

Supporting Our Community with Sustainable Initiatives

Ride & Park Scheme
We’re encouraging greener travel with our free Ride & Park facility. It offers a secure, CCTV-monitored space for 48 bicycles, lockers for folding bikes, and a handy repair station. Open daily from 6am to midnight, it’s a convenient way to reduce your carbon footprint.

Library of Things
In partnership with Ealing Council, we’ve introduced the Library of Things, allowing local residents to borrow everyday household items such as drills, carpet cleaners, and sewing machines for just a few pounds per day. This initiative encourages sharing, reduces unnecessary purchases, and minimises waste.

Clothes Swap & Pre-loved Uniform Shop
Since 2018, our clothes swap and uniform shop project has helped recycle over 50 tonnes of clothing preventing unnecessary waste and giving garments a second life while providing a service to our Ealing community.

Community Outreach
Each year, we collaborate with members of the Ealing Broadway community to help bring environmentally-friendly initiatives to our customers. From March to May 2025, we’re proud to support Springhallow School by providing space for their Eco Refill Pop-up. This project not only encourages customers to refill and reuse containers, but also raises funds to support the school community.

Looking Ahead

Earth Day is a powerful reminder of the positive changes we can all make but at Ealing Broadway, our sustainability journey continues every day. From embracing renewable energy to empowering our community with eco-conscious choices, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far and we’re just getting started.
